This exhibition curated by Sandro Droschl at the Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst & Medien in Graz focuses on the use and abuse of what we understand as 'freedom of speech' and will be open until 04/18/2019. "Hate Speech: Aggression and Intimacy" presents algon with ther international artist, the work of Yuri Pattison. The show sheds light into the positions in contemporary art that address forms of ever more aggressive communication and the effects of social media, as well as their media-related facets. Featuring various international artists, and contrasting critical examples, Hate Speech actively supports the value of free discussion and thus also democratic opinion-making within public civic society. The project is conceived as a contribution to collaborative discussion and pursues the goal of heightening sensitivity and consciousness for the virtual, public, and private space of opinion-making. Artists: Thomas Baumann, Candice Breitz, Elena Aya Bundurakis, Tony Cokes, Petra Cortright, Folkert de Jong, Verena Dengler, Ryan Gander, Yuri Pattison, Signe Pierce, Jim Shaw, Gunther Skreiner, Markus Sworcik, Amalia Ulman, Martha Wilson, Joseph Zehrer More information can be found here.
