Social (Distant) Practice | A conversation with Doris Sommer, Pedro Reyes and Tálata Rodríguez

We invite you to join us via zoom on Saturday 18th April, at 12pm (CT) through the following link: https://zoom.us/j/91531733785 or using the following ID: 915 3173 3785
Practices that bring us together as we stay apart can include creative activities that cross art with education. Professor Doris Sommer and visual artist Pedro Reyes will explore how the practice of Pre-Texts is poised to combine art-making with new learning technologies as they dialogue in English and in Spanish, between Mexico City and Cambridge MA, with participation from poet Tálata Rodríguez in Buenos Aires. Now is the time to cross frontiers of disciplines and cultures, because now we go viral!
Doris Sommer, Director of the Cultural Agents Initiative at Harvard University, is Ira and Jewell Williams Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and of African and African American Studies.
Pedro Reyes seeks to develop critical discourses with his audience, producing works of art and social spaces, often enlisting viewers as participants. His practice examines the cognitive contradictions of modern life, and the possibility of overcoming our particular crises by increasing our degree of individual and collective agency.
