Nicholas Mangan's mid-career survey at MCA Australia
"Nicholas Mangan: A World Undone" opens this Friday, April 5th at the MCA Australia

Nicholas Mangan: A World Undone opens this Friday, April 5th at the MCA Australia, curated by Anneke Jaspers and Anna Davis. This mid-career survey brings together, among others, eight sculptural works by the artist, beginning with Nauru - Notes from a Cretaceous World (2009-10) and culminating with his latest project, Core-Coralations (2021-), inspired by the perilous fragility of the Great Barrier Reef.

The work of Nicholas Mangan considers humanity’s relationship to the natural world, taking everything from coral rubble to cryptocurrency as a point of departure. With a focus on Australia’s place in the Pacific, his works reflect on how social, political and economic upheaval are connected to material transformation, offering new perspectives on pressing global issues, such as the impact of extractive mining on natural resources and climate change.
