For the 2024 edition of Art Basel, Labor will be presenting a new selection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, mixed media in the booth N5 of the Galleries section, in which we are happy to be participating for the third consecutive year.
The group exhibition of artworks for Art Basel 2024, is made up of artists who have recently joined the gallery’s roster, such as Lola Montes, Seba Calfuqueo or Kiriakos Tompolidis, and artists who have accompanied Labor's trajectory since its beginnings, such as Mexican artists Pedro Reyes, Jorge Satorre, Pablo Vargas Lugo or French artist Étienne Chambaud.
Suggesting bridges between tradition, contemporary politics, sense of belonging, identity and personal and collective history, the recently produced artworks we will be showing act as links capable of deepening the understanding of key issues of our present.
Within the framework of her individual participation in booth U70 of the Unlimited section of Art Basel, the Mapuche artist Seba Calfuqueo will be presenting starting Monday, June 10th Ko ta mapungey ka (Water is also territory) (2020-2024), a performance and installation that establish a poetic and political connection between water, body, territory, and the Mapuche language, tackling the historical bonds between water and the Mapuche people, amidst Chile’s neoliberal extractivism and water privatization.
