American artist Jill Magid will be participating from December 8th to March 8th in the XVIth Cuenca Biennale (Ecuador), with a new work specially produced for this occasion: Useless Flowers (2023).
The roses used for this work did not pass quality control in the USA, so they stay in the country and are sold as part of the domestic market (approx. 6%). The flowers are delivered weekly by Rosana's farm along with a card listing the reasons why they did not pass. These roses become part of the national distribution. The artist's work often deals with themes related to the problems of the art market, the survival of life or capitalism.
