Jan Peter Hammer participates in a group show curated by kids at the Gropius Bau
Until August 14th 2022.

With “Kids Curate_Takeover”, a project by the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor and Gropius Bau, Berlin primary school pupils realize their own exhibition on-site at the Gropius Bau with works by international artists also based in Berlin.

Jan Peter Hammer, whose practice has been defined by his profound interest in film theory and literature, participates on this occasion with "The Scream" (2015), a work in neon from his series Monarchs, Men & Monsters. This project looks at cycles of high culture versus mass forms of representation. His examples range from the endless multiplication of Edvard Munch’s iconic Scream as a Halloween mask to the horror of never-ending blockbuster sequels –showing the horror vacui of our time in the outlines of a neon sculpture.
