A work by Héctor Zamora is featured in "Hecho Consumado", the group exhibition curated by Guillermo Santamarina, that opens today at the Centro Cultural Los Pinos.
The Mexican artist presents the work "Anticlástica/Asimétrica" (2019), the latest component of a series that arises from the research on anticlastic and synclastic surfaces, which he has been developing since 2009.
This new project makes direct reference to the parish of San Felipe de Jesús in Lomas de Cuernavaca, designed by the architect and engineer Félix Candela. Through architectural cuts, the artist observes the possible geometric variations of the roof of this building. The technique of concrete shells was used for its manufacture: the result is a minimalist series composed of seven units, three of which are repeated as in a mirror effect from the central piece, creating an asymmetrical yet harmonious sequence.
