We are proud to announce our collaboration with Chilean artist Claudia Gutiérrez Marfull.
The work of Claudia Gutiérrez Marfull revolves around the exploration and appropriation of materials and techniques related to textiles, as well as the representation of urban spaces that set physical or social limits within a city. She uses embroidery and crochet-knitting from a political perspective to depict scenes or situations that show the reality of the urban environment. Her works often evoke the violence and marginality of the vulnerable areas of Chile, focusing more particularly on representing the decaying landscapes of the periphery.
“Ruins (…) are fixed instances that, ironically, allow us to appreciate the development of the cities and at the same time, the waste of their progress.”
Thanks to the support of Chilean collector and philanthropist Juan Yarur Torres, Claudia Gutiérrez Marfull will soon pursue a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the Institute of Art headed by art historian and curator Chus Martínez at FHNW University in Basel.
